Day 330 – 4/18/12 – Planes

Calico Rocks to Chisel Branch; Distance = 17.7 Miles; People Met = 2

There were only two encounters during the course of this rainy day.  One of them was special.  Bahram is a taxi driver originally from Iran who walks regularly now to address a sciatic nerve problem.  Upon our meeting he referred to us as inspirations.  He phoned his Costa Rican wife just to tell her about the meeting and handed the phone over to Cindy to chat with her.  He turned around to hike along with us for awhile.  When we reached the parking lot he brought us into a store, where we bought a couple slices of pizza, and back.

Bahram joined us walking for awhile

We also ran into Scott Matheson, who was hiking the towpath to Cumberland and then the Allegheny Trail on up to Pittsburgh.

Scott Matheson's heading for Pittsburgh

After our eventful night with trains we soon discovered at the Chisel Branch campsite that we were about 10 miles away from the Washington Dulles International Airport.  Fortunately, there are substantially fewer red eye flights than in the evening and morning.
