Day 105 – 9/6/11 Crested Butte Rest Day

So what happens on a rest day?  For me it’s mainly what you see here, posting on the Internet.  A rest day also means planning ahead for some future leg of the journey, and acquiring and packing the food for the next stretch ahead.  Cindy and I share much in a way that reduces the weight of both of our packs, with me taking the heavier of share items.  I carry the tent and tent fly, Cindy carries the tent poles.  I carry the fuel bottle and store, Cindy carries the pot.  I usually carry more water, Cindy carries the water filter.  I carry the food stuffsack with suppers and breakfasts, Cindy carries the one with lunches and snacks.  I carry Cindy’s sleeping bag, Cindy carries mine.

When we have hosts as gracious and informed as Jim and Delrena Sides I always wish I had less to do on the Internet and more time to spend with them.  Cindy and Ky make up for my deficiency in that area.  Here’s one more shout out of thanks to Jim and Delrena.

My interview with Kevin McGruther about Crested Butte’s farmers market actually happened the day we hiked into Crested Butte, but I was not sure about the best way to handle it.  Blog post or newsletter?  It was so enlightening that I’ve decided on both.  So here is a very integrative communal approach to several important issues.  Click the YouTube button if you get an error message.

Here are some links related to Kevin’s Mission.
