Brain Health Updates – 08/03/26

This entry will be added to that topic, but I may also share some of these updates under the Brain Health Research topic. They are that new and exciting for me.

Researchers studied SuperAgers expecting so see a lower frequency of the gene that leads to predisposition for Alzheimer’s in that population. Instead, they found no difference. Their concluding recommendation, the same one that I have made for over a decade, is to focus on lifestyle factors for the prevention of dementia.

I have written on here and elsewhere about the benefits of runner’s high, helper’s high and joy in general. A suite of biochemicals that benefit brain health are involved in these euphoric feelings. One of those biochemicals, perhaps the most important of all, has escaped my attention up until now. It turns out endocannabiodes, a lipid, accomplishes much of what has been attributed to endorphins, peptides. One in particular, anandamide, is even called “the bliss molecule.”
