LOL. The dogs have been pretty good along the route, though one night while camped in a backyard a dog went crazy at 5:00 a.m. The owner came out and kept saying “It’s just a tent, Max, it’s just a tent!”

Hi Kirk, Cindy and Ky, I think of you so often and am glad to read reports of the kind people you’ve encountered and good conversations. We’re winding up the “official” portion of our church year. We miss your voice in choir, Kirk, but soon the choir loft will be empty. Enjoy the scenery, the birds and each other! Love to you all.

  5. Aaron Clary says:

    Kirk & Cindy,

It is great what you guys are doing!! I am planning on going from East to West next year on the southern route to set a record for the fastest hike of the ADT and to raise money and awareness for Lupus and The Wounded Warrior Project. Are you two taking the southern or northern route??

    Your friend,

    Aaron

    • admin says:

      Greetings Aaron,

Good luck with your ADT plans. I know the current record is held by Brian Stark. We’re going the southern route.

    Hi Kirk and Cindy,

I enjoyed reading about your journey. I am Reid, a friend of Gretchen Davis (she is in Kansas City) whom I believe you have been in touch with. My girlfriend, Heather, and I live in a house in Lawrence, Kansas, and would be happy to host you that evening in Lawrence. I believe you’re planning to be here the 29th of this month. We have a spare bedroom for you.

Let me know if we can help you in this. Thanks.

Greetings, Kirk, Cindy and Ky – What an amazing set of stories we keep hearing back here at “home” in Norfolk, CT. It is so good to know you’re connecting with many wonderful, generous people – including folks at churches in the Methodist, UCC, and other traditions. Of course, it was an absolute delight to see you guys if even only briefly a bit ago! Please let me know directly what particular needs you may have as the journey continues. We wish you safety, health, happiness, and God’s deep blessings upon you as you continue this beautiful work.
    Peace and love,
    Erick

      Greetings Ed,
Unless this is some extraordinary coincidence, you must be the Ed Chasteen we’ve been told about, i.e., the person behind Hate Busters. Way to go back at you!

  13. Therese says:

Kirk and Cindy, I cannot find an email address for you, so I hope I find you this way. My son, Andrew Forsthoefel at http://www.walkingtolisten.com left our backyard on Oct 14, 2011 and is now nearing the NM border. A friend of mine who is tracking Andrew’s blog brought me the article written about you both. I am sending the article to Andrew and hope that we all might meet one day. I know he has greatly enjoyed meeting what he now calls, ‘my colleagues’ on the road. He has met a hand-full of fellow heart-filled walkers along his route. Thank you for your journey…

    • admin says:

      Greetings Therese,
I checked out your son’s blog. He definitely has a flair for words. Something I have found, indeed was assured of before we even began this current journey, is that all travelers experience great kindness.
      Kirk
